STATEMENT:
Images shot around the world which reflect a personal and diverse vision. Working primarily with natural light, as part of an approach to colour, the photographic collection includes what one could describe as a personal record or 'view of the world', covering fourteen years of experimentation with the camera. Commissioned work from several publishers including Heinemann and Oxford University Press.
All images are shot on 35mm format and transparency film.

NEWS:
New York, October - November 2001: A fascinating stay in New York in the aftermath of the World Trade Centre attack. It was a melancholic and subdued atmosphere. Despite the recent events it was still a period of inspiration. There were exhibitions by Sarah Moon, Imogen Cunningham, Tom Baril, Jayne Hinds Bidaut, Helmut Newton, Edward Weston, Sheila Metzner, John A Coffer and many more in Manhattan's numerous photography galleries.
Collaborating with Kala Sangam, a South Asian dance organisation based in Yorkshire. We are developing a long term project to produce a photographic book featuring the traditional dances of India.

Limited edition handprints are available.

AREAS OF INTEREST:
Editorial photography. Collaborating with other photographers, writers, and arts organisations.
Creating a new portfolio of black and white medium and large format portraiture and
still-life photographs.

BIOGRAPHY:
Born in Bradford, England, of Indian descent, Bipinchandra is a self-taught photographer now working between Brighton, England and New York City.
His first body of work consisted of photographs shot in India during the winter of 1988. This and subsequent trips to India became a part of an education in his own cultural identity, and led to his first published work. This was followed by an exhibition at the National Museum of Photography, Bradford in 1990.
His work has comprised numerous projects funded by the Arts Council, and local government bodies. The core of which consisted of photography workshops with youngsters and special needs groups. This led onto more projects with a multicultural approach and was mainly delivered in primary and secondary schools.
His personal, as well as commissioned work has led to a substantial photographic collection. He has written feature articles for Professional Photographer magazine, and is a member of the National Union of Journalists.
He spent one year designing websites for Spannerworks Internet, and redesigned the award winning www.foto8.com website of international photo-journalism.

He welcomes your comments.
